Chocolate Covered Pretzels

My nephew was over the other day so we decided to make chocolate covered pretzels.  This is how we did it...

All you need is:
Pretzel Rods
My Camera was on the fritz.
So I borrowed a pic from the web.
Chocolate chips (you can also use white chocolate)
Sprinkles (optional)
Wax paper/cooling rack

Directions:
Empty the bag of chocolate chips into a microwave safe bowl.  Then microwave on high for 1 minute. Remove and stir with a spatula (some of the chips will melt when you are stirring, if they don't, microwave for 15 more seconds, then stir again.)  Because the chocolate hardens after awhile, I found it easier to work with half a bag of chocolate at a time.

Dip one pretzel rod into the melted chocolate and use a spoon or butter knife to spread the chocolate.  Hold the rod over a piece of wax paper/plate and shake sprinkles on all sides.  Place the pretzel on another piece of wax paper or a cooling rack to dry.  Repeat until you've coated all the pretzels and let dry completely (we ate them after a few hours in the fridge, well the kids ate their's instantly). 

If working with children, its easiest to pour them their own bowl of chocolate and give them a few pretzels and a spoon. 

Warning:  This particular recipe is very messy, especially with 2 toddlers.  So if you do not like big mess projects, this is not the recipe for you.

I am going to give a big huge sarcastic "Yay" to Fall...and here's why...

Well, don't get me wrong Fall is not all bad...the weather is nice enough to turn off the air conditioning bringing energy bills down and the trees are beautiful BEFORE they lose their leaves...which brings me to the "down Falls".
This is week 3 of operation leaf removal.  We get so many leaves that our raking has to be done in spurts because there is not enough room in the street. Thank goodness our city comes by and picks them once a week.  And the funny thing is that we have a relatively small yard and only ONE SMALL TREE in OUR yard.  Its our neighbors trees that do this to us.  One year we decided not to rake and let the wind do its job and blow them elsewhere...yeah...that was a colossal mistake!  The wind must have taken a year off because the leaves didn't move! It was bad.  


There is an upside to having so many leaves...LEAF JUMPING!!!

Potty Cover Review & Giveaway!

Public Restrooms are disgusting.  So if you are like me "holding it" to avoid them is they way to go.  But when you have a toddler who is just learning to use the potty sometimes it is hard not to use the occasional store or restaurant bathroom.  Which is why the Potty Cover is a must have for all families.  I was delighted to have the chance to review such an ingenious product.
 Potty Cover is no ordinary potty cover.  The design is fun and efficient.  For comfort, the top layer is made of a soft non-woven fabric and the bottom layer is coated with a plastic lining, creating a waterproof barrier between the toilet and your child. Another advantage to owning these covers is that they stay in place when you get on and off the toilet! 

My 2 yr old absolutely loves the colorful polka-dot design.  She is so excited to use them when we are out.  And me not having to worry about her little hands touching germy toilet seats, our weekly trips to the Zoo are a lot less stressful.  Seriously, they COVER the ENTIRE toilet seat and then some!  So yay, no more squatting, hovering or holding your kids above seat. 

Each cover is individually wrapped making them perfect for on the go.  They are packaged small enough to fit nicely inside a pocket or a purse.  They are easy to use and can be used by ANYONE; not just kids. These covers are so protective that they CANNOT be flushed.  Just lift them off and throw them in the garbage can. Unless you accidentally flush one at the movies and clog the toilet, oops...not that this has happened to me...ok moving on...

I know that Diamond Candles are quite popular in the blogosphere but for those of you who are less familiar with them... Diamond Candles makes soy candles with a hidden surprise inside.  Each Diamond Candle has a ring inside the candle jar.  The only way to get the ring out is to burn the candle.  The rings in Diamond Candles are valued anywhere from $10 to $5,000.  All of their candles are 100% soy so they are not made with petroleum based paraffin wax or bees wax.

I was asked to review the Enchanted Forest from the Fall collection.  Before lighting it I was not too impressed with the smell, but I decided to light it anyways.  It was definitely not love at first whiff.   But I am so glad I gave it a chance!  The smell was amazing!  It filled the room with a delightful aroma without being overpowering.
