Another great zoo trip for the Party of Three family. Today we went to feed the giraffes. At the Detroit Zoo, in order to do so you must show up extra early to buy your ticket...so this morning I set the alarm to get up early, but I guess it was not early enough. When we arrived at 9:45a they only had tickets left for the 3p feeding.
Normally, we are the type of family that finishes the zoo in 2 or 3 hours but M really wanted to feed the giraffes...so, we decided to purchase the tickets anyways. Luckily I packed a few PB & J sandwiches, crackers, cheese, and lots of water. I was super surprised at how much more we enjoyed the zoo!
It was so nice not feeling rushed and to truly enjoy the zoo. And did I mention that almost all of the animals were active? The lioness and tiger were both roaring, the Bears were playing, and the peacocks were out in full force. We even had time to ride the train and the carousel. And still had enough time to visit some of the animals twice!! There were even a few things that we were seeing for the first time. We discovered that there was indoor viewing area for both the gorillas and the giraffes. Two years and we had never been inside the giraffe indoor viewing area!! In our defense it is kind of hidden...but truth be told, if we were not is such a rush we would have probably seen it on our other trips.
