Learning Resources Review and Jumbo Eyedropper Giveaway!

Eyedroppers are the perfect tool to add interest to a variety of activities while increasing a child's fine motor skills.  Using them requires you isolate the fingers used for writing, so I was super excited when I received  Primary Science Jumbo Eyedroppers by Learning Resources.  My first thoughts were bring on the science and bring on the fun!  These perfectly sized eyedroppers are a great addition to a science center or sensory table. Children can have fun experimenting with cause and effect while building fine motor skills.  Thanks Learning Resources.

As you all know LearningResources® is a leading manufacturer of innovative, hands-on educational products trusted by teachers and parents and loved by children. The Company has over 1000 high-quality products.  They offer educational toys, classroom materials, educational games, learning toys, development toys, and much more.

Learning Resources never disappoints.  We absolutely love the Jumbo eyedroppers.  They are so much fun and there are so many things that you can do with them.  They are super durable and definitely made to last.  I love that this set comes with 6 droppers and 1 stand.  Here are some experiments that we did using the eyedroppers:

Experiment One
First, we set up a little laboratory with food coloring and water and had some fun in the name of science.  Since M already knows her colors, I used this time to teach her about primary and secondary colors.  Unfortunately, I only had red and blue so we were limited to only making purple, but a simple trip to the store for some more food coloring and we have another science experiment.

Experiment Two
Next, We played with ice, food coloring, and salt.  I know what you are thinking…huh?  Well this is what we did:

We lined a cookie rack with some ice from the freezer and set it on top of a large baking dish.  I then gave M a small bowl of kosher salt, some dishes of water, food coloring, and her Learning Resources Jumbo eyedroppers.

Next, I let her put a few drops of the food coloring into the water dishes, then I let her sprinkle the salt onto the ice.  Then we used the eyedroppers to drop the water over the ice.  Since salt changes the melting point of the ice, it melted pretty quickly. The colored water will run over the melting ice, creating some really neat patterns.

Experiment Three
Finally we tested the effect of vinegar and baking soda!  This was M’s favorite. We covered a cookie sheet with some baking soda and used the droppers to drop vinegar!  We loved listening to the baking soda fizz and loved watching it rise.  We even tried adding some color to the vinegar.  Keeping everything contained on a cookie sheet makes for easy clean up.
Learning Resources offers so much more than just play food.  They have games, puzzles, and electronic toys.  As homeschooler, I was happy to find that Learning Resources has a Resource Center and articles for learning at home.  I also discovered that they offer a full line of products made especially for children with special needs.
