How Long Do We Have to Be Peanut Free???

Because the peanut butter recall keeps growing, our family is taking a "nut" break for awhile.   It totally sticks but I'm not willing to chance it.  When the recall was first announced, I was not too concerned because we do not shop at Trader Joes.   Then the list began to grow...
Wal-Mart, Kroger, AND Costco have since been added to the list, I'm sure there's more to come.  Now more than 240 peanut products have been recalled because they may contain Salmonella bacteria.
And don't be fooled, its not just peanut butter that is being recalled.  Breakfast bars, Ice Cream, and a few other items that contain peanuts have also been added to the list.  Even the raw nut itself is in question.  The recalled products all contain peanut butter made at Sunland Inc., a manufacturing company in New Mexico.

"A total of 35 people from 19 states have been sickened from the outbreak, most of whom are children. They were infected with a strain of bacteria called Salmonella Bredeney.

Salmonella can cause serious illness, especially in young children and older adults, the FDA says. Symptoms include diarrhea, fever and abdominal cramps that develop 12 to 72 hours after infection." -FoxNews

If you have a recalled item in your home, return it to the store for a refund or throw it away!
If you or someone you know has gotten sick from a peanut product not yet on the list please report it to the FDA.
